Well it has definitely been a creative drought for me lately. I am hoping to change that with Summer fast approaching. I do not have any crafts planned yet but I do want to start using my new drawing tablet - hopefully you will see some digital art posted up real soon.

Baby Cakes & Cup Cakes!!!

I made this "baby cake" for my friends' soon to be daughter. The bottom layer is approximately 40 newborn diapers. The middle layer is a baby bottle wrapped in six receiving blankets and a bath towel. The top layer is wash cloths and a matching bath toy.

Below are the cupcakes I made for the butterfly themed baby shower! Pink colored cake "strawberry" with vanilla frosting and hand-made royal icing butterflies.

Wedding Center Pieces

Started with gluing 2 1/2" purple ribbon on the bottom of my 8" cylander vase.

Glued 0.5" glass squares in 3 straight rows to replicate a disco ball.

Almost done! All that's left is to fill the vase 3/4 full with water and put a floating candle in it. The table will be finished off with berry colored fake rose pedals. Can't wait to put them all together!!!

I've been feeling a bit un-creative lately. Part of which is because this past month was consumed with organizing a Luau fundraiser for Lindsay. (In which we were able to raise $814.00 for her! check out the blog and photos @ www.cotaforlindsaym.com)

So now that that is over, I do not plan on doing any "big" activities for awhile... hopefully being able to focus some more on my creative side.

Some ideas I want to attempt:

> Design a new website page purely for my photography hobby
> Paint decorations for our new apartment
> Make some vinyl decor for our new apartment
> Draw a picture (haven't done that in a while!)
> Take some new film photos & go develop them
> Do a new digital photoshoot
> And last but not least attempt some resin casting for the first time!

Also, in August I shall be making a cake for Idi's birthday so I should be posting that the early part of August. I think I'll need to attempt making myself a costume for the party as well... wish me luck!!!

Should Same-Sex Couples Be Allowed to Get Married?

What if I was to say that interracial couples could no longer date? What would you say if the state decided that women no longer could have the right to vote? And what would you do if the USA government said that slavery was once again legal?

Chances are you would be appalled, you'd probably raise your voice to whoever was around you, and you may even try to fight it!

So what is it that these three things have in common that would get you in such an uproar? Changing these "norms" would be changing the equality rights we have as USA Citizens. So I ask you yet again, should same-sex couples be allowed to get married?

Denying anyone the right to marriage is unconstitutional. Who are we as individuals to judge a person based on their sexual preference? Who are we to deny a citizen a right? Who are we to discriminate in a way in which our Constitution says we are not allowed?

So God says marriage is between a man and a woman? God tells us we should ban marriages and discriminate? We have a law in this country, written right there in the Constitution in which our nation is based... it is called our FIRST AMENDMENT.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
One of our nations' Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, made this point ever so clear as to state "...Wall of Separation Between Church and State."

We are a nation who was founded on freedom, a nation who is formed by rights. And though in our history we have gotten things wrong at first, as a nation we have come together to make them right. We fought for our country to realize slaves were people too and deserved freedom and rights. We fought for our country to realize women too deserved freedom and rights. We have come to be our country by people of all different ethnicities making the journey from far away lands to immigrate here, and we have given each and everyone of them freedom and rights. So why are we taking a step back? Why are we trying to take away a right? If we let our nation succeed at taking away the right to marriage, what will be next? Will women no longer have a voice? Will the freedom to free speech be taken away? Will the "rich white people" bring back slavery? WHEN WILL IT STOP?

Beautiful flowers, birds, and newborn offspring.
Not yet too hot, but no more freeze!

My favorite colors shine so bright,
Pastel Purple, Pink, Green, Blue and Yellow.
People gather outside at the park,
And inside Easter decorations are such a delight.

Turkey Traveling

So here I am, the "worst" traveling day of the year, at the San Jose Airport. And to my delight it was actually very pleasant to get settled in. I made sure not to pack too much this time for I didn't want to have to check in luggage. Which I must say was the best idea. I checked in online, walked right through the counters up to security. The security line was pretty long, I thought to myself, "here we go, this is where I'll be spending my time waiting," but I was through it within 5 minutes.
And best yet, as I get through security my gate is right infront of me! YAY!

So I got here 2 1/2 hours early, to make time for all the delays... and now I sit here... 2 1/2 hours early - waiting for my flight.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Enjoy some yummy food, great times with your families, and remember to give thanks for all we are blessed with in our lives.

Jumping Aboard

I decided, for the time being, I'm not going to redo my website. (Which I had been "in the process" for the past 2 years.) Instead, I am joining the bandwagon and hopping aboard the blog bus.
